Episode 002: Hustling In NYC ft. Brianna Arps - Beauty Industry Insider + Brand Fixer Upper

Episode two is here! This week’s show features a conversation with Brianna Arps, a multimedia editor and beauty industry insider. Since we connected through a journalism mentorship program years ago, Brianna has been one of my favorite people and I continue to be in awe of what she’s accomplished.

Brianna’s career journey has led her to work both on the editorial and marketing side of the beauty industry. In college, she assisted the marketing team for Mischo Beauty and The Cut Life. During the summer of 2015, Brianna also made her way to Essence Magazine to work as a marketing intern. After she graduated, the St. Louis native took her talents to NYC where she worked at US Weekly, Elite Daily, and Insider. She went on to become the Lifestyle & Entertainment Editor of Branded Editorial at Refinery29 at just 23 years old! I’m telling you…Brianna is AMAZING.

Her experience also includes a stint as the Content Marketing Manager at one of my favorite Black-owned beauty brands, The Lip Bar. Most recently, Brianna ventured out on her own to start ARPS Enterprise Solutions Group — a boutique marketing strategy "agency" specializing in strengthening and growing beauty + fashion start-ups. Her resume is stacked, to say the least!

Brianna and I chatted about what it’s really been like hustling in NYC for the past four years, being Black in media (and her tips for young Black writers), and what self-care currently looks like for her. She also dished on her favorite red lips for Black skin tones and offered so many other good beauty recommendations. Tune in to our chat below!

Black-Owned Beauty Brands Mentioned
